A man was hospitalized in a second shooting in San Jose tonight, less than an hour after another man was fatally shot, police said.

Police responded to the shooting near the corner of North Jackson Avenue and Luz Avenue at 7:16 p.m.

Officers found a 20-year-old man who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation, and police have not determined whether it is related to a fatal shooting earlier in the evening.

In that shooting, officers responded to reports that a man had been shot less than two miles away in the 1900 block of Poco Way at 6:39 p.m., according to police.

The 24-year-old victim had been transported by friends to Regional Medical Center in San Jose, and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle and remain at-large tonight, police said. Police believe the shooting was gang-related.

The homicide is San Jose's 29th homicide of the year.
