San Francisco Fire Department marine units on Tuesday responded to a reported kite surfer in distress under the Golden Gate Bridge, according to a tweet from the department.
The rescue boats responded about 4:40 p.m. and hadn't yet reached the scene, the tweet said.
A few minutes later, fire officials said the kite surfer had been rescued by fellow surfers.
