SF's Richest Zip Codes: SoMa, South Beach

Tech rules everything around us.

In today's economy, the rich get richer -- and then they move to South of Market.

SoMa and South Beach, the land of new condominiums and old warehouses converted into tech offices, are San Francisco's wealthiest zip codes, according to reports.

The Bold Italic showcases the lands of the nouveau rich, noting that median income in the environs of the San Francisco Giants' ballpark is a robust $142,400.

No. 2 is older-school: St. Francis Wood, out near West Portal, where folks living in detached homes with things called backyards take home about $128,300 a year.

That's old money -- but why is new money in South Beach? That's where much of the new tech economy's action is, and what's more, that's where new condos where rent control doesn't apply are located, according to real estate experts.

Not feeling rich? Maybe you live in Chinatown, the Tenderloin or Treasure Island, where median incomes are in the $30,000s.
