Silicon Valley Moguls Open Wallets for Ed Lee

Napster co-founder Sean Parker -- the appletini-slugging Silicon Valley investor portrayed by Justin Timberlake in the film "The Social Network" -- loves him some Mayor Ed Lee.
The Silicon Valley mogul donated $100,000 to an independent expenditure committee formed to support the San Francisco mayor, according to the San Francisco Examiner.
The "IE" committees are "soft money," according to some. They are not ruled by the same restrictions, such as $500 contribution limits, as a candidate's main fundraising committee.
Parker cut the check to "San Franciscans for Jobs and Good Government," according to records. Businessman Ron Conway, another Silicon Valley moneyman, also shelled out huge checks to the committee.
Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff gave $50,000 and Marissa Mayer, vice president of Google, donated $2,000. Conway gave $151,000.
