Police Looking for Driver Who Killed Elderly Woman

Man dragged body to side of road

San Jose police are searching for the driver who witnesses said struck  and killed an elderly woman while she was crossing the street on her way home from church on Monday morning.

The man was seen pulling the woman's limp body to the side of the road before leaving the scene.

This happened at the intersection of Senter Road and Independence Drive around 8 a.m. on Monday.

The 80-year-old woman has been identified as Qui Tran. She died shortly after being taken to a hospital.

The driver was headed southbound on Senter at the time.  He is described as an Asian man in his 20s or 30s with short dark hair.  He was driving a green-colored Honda-like four-door vehicle.  Police say the partial car license plate has either the letter "S" or the number "5" along with two consecutive "7s."

Police were able to develop a sketch based on witnesses statements.

Tran was headed home from morning mass at nearby St. Maria Goretti.
