Sonoma County Approves Parcel Tax Measures to Bolster Fire Districts

West Sonoma County voters on Tuesday approved four measures that provide funding for rural fire districts that rely largely on volunteers. All of the measures required two-thirds approval.

Voters in the Graton Fire Protection District approved parcel tax Measure F that is estimated to raise $800,000 annually for the all-volunteer fire district. The measure passed with 75 percent approval.

Voters in the Gold Ridge Fire Protection District barely approved Measure E with 67.93 percent in favor. The parcel tax measure will generate $1.2 million annually for the volunteer and paid firefighters district.

The Occidental Community Services District's Measure C's parcel tax passed with 82 percent approval. Measure C will generate an estimated $250,000 annually for fire suppression and prevention.

Voters in the busy Bodega Bay Fire Protection District approved Measure D, which continues the district's previously extended spending limit for another four years. It got 94 percent approval.
