Part-time soccer coach for Archbishop Mitty High School under arrest

Santa Clara police have arrested a volunteer youth soccer coach who allegedly molested two teenage girls he met while coaching.

Police arrested 21-year-old Ricardo Sanchez Jr. on Thursday after an investigation revealed that Sanchez molested a 13-year-old girl and a  16-year-old girl, police said.

Sanchez met the girls when he was coaching for Santa Clara Youth Soccer, police said. He had volunteered with the league for several years.

Sanchez allegedly befriended the girls and then molested them, police said.

He also worked as a part-time soccer coach for Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, police said.

Sanchez has been released from police custody after posting $150,000 bail.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the case or anyone who may have been victimized by Sanchez to contact Sgt. Souza at 408-615-4826.
