2 Injured in Shooting Outside High School Football Game: San Jose Police

The high school is in the San Jose Police Department's jurisdiction

Two people were injured in a shooting outside a high school football game in Campbell Friday night, San Jose police said.

The incident occurred in the Westmont High School parking lot in the 4800 block of Westmont Avenue at around 9:20 p.m., police said.

The game was in it's final minutes when witnesses say several shots were fired outside the stadium.

Both men suffered non life-threatening injuries and are being treated at a local hospital.

The shots were fired near the entrance to the stadium, but it's not yet clear if it was an exchange of gunfire.

After about a half hour pause in the game, as police officer decided it was safe, it continued.

Some witnesses said that some people didn't hear the gunshots and were confused about why the game stopped and why they had to get on the ground.

But those who did hear the shots, are concerned that the game didn't stop immediately.

No additional information was immediately available.
