Woman Struck, Killed While Crossing Street in San Jose

Police in San Jose are investigating a collision that killed a woman who had been walking across Senter Road shortly before 11 p.m.

Friday near the intersection with Lewis Road. Police said a Honda Civic was traveling south on six-lane Senter Road when it struck a woman who was crossing the street outside of any marked crosswalk.

The victim was pronounced dead at scene. Her name was not released.

The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and cooperated with the traffic investigation.

Police say they do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

This was the 18th fatal traffic collision in San Jose in 2021, involving the year's 19th victim. It was also the fourth pedestrian fatality of the year.
