A preliminary 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck near Morgan Hill Friday afternoon, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake, which hit at 12:35 p.m., was centered 7.1 miles east of Morgan Hill and 8.6 miles north-northeast of Gilroy, the USGS said.
