A Palo Alto neighborhood is returning to normal early Thursday evening after two incendiary devices found inside a residence -- a historic military shell and a grenade -- were deemed safe by bomb squad technicians.
A Palo Alto Police Department spokesperson said the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department's Bomb Squad deemed both devices safe. One of the devices was determined safe immediately, but the second device relocated to a nearby open area at Hoover Park to determine it safe.
The devices were found inside a home in the 2300 block of South Court.
Residents in the neighborhood and park visitors were not in danger.
Just before 7 p.m., the bomb squad successfully rendered the device safe.
