A driver slammed into a check cashing store in San Jose early Thursday morning after failing to pull over during an attempted traffic stop, according to police.

After crashing into the business located along the 3800 block of Seven Trees Boulevard, the driver fled the scene on foot and has yet to be apprehended, police said. A 15-year-old passenger was found at the crash scene and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A San Jose police officer around 1:10 a.m. tried to stop the car in the area of Capitol Expressway and Snell Avenue for a vehicle code violation, police said. The driver refused to pull over and fled from the scene.

The officer did not pursue the driver but kept driving in the area and eventually came across the crash scene, police said.

No other information was immediately available.
