Stabbings in Santa Rosa May Be Connected: Police

Police believe one man may be responsible for two recent stabbings in Santa Rosa - the fatal stabbing of a homeless man Monday and the brutal attack on a man watching a movie inside the Roxy Theater on Wednesday night.

While both crimes are still under investigation, Santa Rosa police have in custody 23-year-old Delonte Hart, who they say is a person of interest in the stabbings.

On Monday, 32-year-old Cirak Tesfazgi was stabbed 50 times while sleeping in a doorway not too far from the movie theater. There is a makeshift memorial at the site where he was killed.

On Wednesday, 21-year-old Adam Lucero was stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife.

About 10 minutes into the movie, the suspect walked over to where Lucero was sitting, bent over and started stabbing Lucero several times in the front and upper area of his body, police said.

Lucero recently moved from Southern California. His friends on Facebook said he is recovering after undergoing surgery.

Meanwhile, people in the heighborhood are a bit apprehensive.

Fiona O’Reilly says she’s seen Hart in the area before, and she's a little paranoid now about going to the movies.

"It’s really awful, you’re totally vulnerable," she said. "You’re in the dark, you’ve given up your trust to the rest of the people that are in the theater."

Police said they will be retracing Hart’s movements in recent weeks and looking for surveillance video in the fatal stabbing.
