A 29-year-old Sunnyvale man is presumed drowned after disappearing while diving for abalone off the Sonoma County coast.
Authorities say Jonathan Su was reported missing Sunday afternoon by his cousin after Su did not return to the surface while diving in the waters near Fort Ross.
A state parks ranger says at the time Su disappeared conditions were rough, with a 14-foot swell and strong wind chop.
Several agencies participated in a search that included helicopters from the U.S. Coast Guard and Sonoma County Sheriff's Department, and State Parks lifeguards.
The search was called off Sunday night, but was expected to resume early Monday morning.
