Superhero Window Washers Surprise Kids at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital

Grime-fighting window washers, dressed as superheroes, joined forces to surprise kids at UC Benioff Children's Hospital Monday afternoon.

"UCSF window washers are back at the hospital," the hospital tweeted around 11:45 a.m., with a photo of superheroes giving the building's windows a good wiping.

The heroes waved at children as they washed windows.

Some of the heroes children saw Monday were Supergirl, Batman, Robin, Ironman, Thor, The Flash, the Red Ranger power ranger, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Leonardo and Shrek, UCSF spokeswoman Juliana Bunim said.

The event is part of the hospital's child life services program, which aims to provide a wealth of services to children beyond medical services, she said.

Children can go to school, take part in a writing program and among other activities, attend music therapy, she said.

Nothing in particular prompted the idea, but "why wouldn't we bring this amazing opportunity to the kids?" she said.
