Suspect Arrested in Connection With San Jose New Year's Day Shooting Death

A suspect in a Jan. 1 homicide in San Jose was arrested this week at San Francisco International Airport, police said Friday.

The San Jose Police Department, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service, San Francisco police and U.S. Customs and Border Protection arrested Nam Huynh, 18, of San Jose, on Monday after he exited a flight from Vietnam, police said.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office has formally charged Nam with murder.

Police responded Jan. 1 at 12:30 a.m. to call of a person shot at the Reign Bar at 1071 E. Capitol Expressway and located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims, identified as Alexander Thach Nguyen, later died at the hospital from his injuries.

The second victim survived the shooting and has since been released from the hospital, police said.

Following the shooting, police identified Huynh and another man, Sai Hoang Le, 19, of San Jose, as suspects in the shooting.

A search is still ongoing for Le, police said.
