Target Apologizes for Leaning Right

Target didn't expect to roll into San Francisco without a political fight did they?

To the surprise of some, rumors of the big box retail store opening in the City has some San Franciscans drooling. The store didn't get the normal corporate treatment that the City likes to give big retailers.

But true to San Francisco's reputation, Target's political ties caused some to run from the Isaac Mizrahi aisles.

Today Target is apologizing for leaning to the right. The company apologized for a political donation to a conservative group that angered some employees and sparked talk of a customer boycott.

Chairman and Chief Executive Gregg Steinhafel wrote to employees on Thursday to say the company was "genuinely sorry" that the donation upset some employees.

Steinhafel also said Target would set up a review process for future political donations.

Target gave $150,000 to MN Forward, a group that is running ads for a Republican gubernatorial candidate who opposes gay marriage.
