Teen Arrested for Brandishing Airsoft Gun at Fairfield School: Police

The Sem Yeto High School in Fairfield was locked down briefly Thursday morning after two students, one of them with a replica handgun, got into a fight, Fairfield police said.

The fight on the campus at 205 E. Atlantic Ave. was reported around 9:20 a.m.

A staff member broke up the fight but informed the school's resource officer that one of the students pointed a weapon at the other then threw the gun onto a nearby roof, police said.

The Fairfield Fire Department responded with a ladder and officers recovered an airsoft gun that resembled a firearm from the roof, police said.

The incident locked down the school for 35 minutes. Police arrested Carlos Rios-Morales, 18, of Fairfield, for brandishing a replica firearm, creating a campus disruption and possession of
marijuana on a school campus.

Police used the incident to remind parents that carrying airsoft guns that resemble real firearms is dangerous.

Police also said they will pay a $200 reward for information that leads to the recovery of an illegally possessed firearm on a Fairfield school campus.
