Teen Killed in Grisly Rollover Crash on Highway 101

A 19-year-old man died after he was ejected from his vehicle during a rollover crash on U.S. Highway 101 early this morning near King City.

Around 4:50 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a rollover accident in the highway's southbound lanes, just south of Central Avenue in unincorporated Monterey County, according to CHP spokesman Officer Oscar Loza.

After a preliminary investigation, officers determined the driver, who was driving a Chevrolet Astro minivan, fell asleep behind the wheel, causing the minivan to drift from the roadway, Loza said.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Loza.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, Loza said.
