The Santa Cruz County coroner's office today identified a man killed in a solo-vehicle crash in unincorporated Santa Cruz County Monday night as Boulder Creek resident Skylar Feather.
Feather, 18, was driving a 1994 Chrysler Sebring west on Felton Empire Road around 10:10 p.m. when he crossed over the double yellow lines to pass another car, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Feather then lost control of his car, which traveled off the right side of the road and overturned down a steep embankment.
The car came to rest about 100 feet from the road and Feather died at the scene, according to the CHP. His passenger, a 20-year-old Felton woman, was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center with major injuries.
