Teen Shoots 9-Year-Old With Airsoft Rifle, Demands Money: Palo Alto Police

Police in Palo Alto arrested a 14-year-old boy they say shot a 9-year-old in the arm with a BB gun and demanded money from him, and they ended up confiscating five other airsoft guns owned by a third boy as well.

The teen had gone up to the younger boy and shot him once in the arm with the airsoft rifle on Oct. 3 at 7:44 p.m. in the 3900 block of El Camino Real, police said.

The 9-year-old tried to run away, but the teen chased him, pointed the weapon at him again, and demanded money, police said. The younger boy didn’t have money, and the teen eventually left him alone.

The younger boy, whose arm began to swell and get red, told a parent, who then called police.

Police found the teen and arrested him for felony attempted robbery, later releasing him to the custody of a parent.

Officers determined that the airsoft rifle belonged to a third boy and took possession of it. That boy’s parents voluntarily turned over five additional airsoft pistols to police as well.
