Teen Trio Busted in Los Gatos

Cash, computers targets of auto break-ins

Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police today announced the arrests of three teenagers suspected of breaking into at least nine cars.

The suspects were taken into custody shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday, allegedly with stolen property still in their possession, Detective Sgt. Matt Frisby said today.

Police identified two of the suspects as San Jose resident  Nicholas Masouris and Sunnyvale resident Mitchell Azevedo, both 18. The name of the third suspect, a 17-year-old boy from Campbell, was withheld because of his age.

Investigators believe the three had scoped out the vehicles ahead  of time and then worked together to break into all of the cars at the same  time, Frisby said.

They allegedly mainly took cash, electronics and computers, Frisby  said.

Police are still investigating whether the three suspects can be  tied to other burglaries in the area. Frisby said auto burglaries appear to have been on the rise since the first of the year.
