Teens Lead East Bay Police on 130 MPH Chase Ending in Crash

A group of teenagers on Saturday led East Bay police on a high speed chase that topped 130 miles an hour and ended with a crash, California Highway Patrol said.

State patrol said an officer tried to pull over the driver of a white Ford on Interstate 880 for speeding and racing another car in Hayward shortly before 4 a.m. Rather than pull to the side of the road, the driver allegedly sped down the interstate going at speeds upwards of 130 miles an hour, according to police.

The chase lasted for 10 minutes and culminated with a crash near the Westbound 84 off-ramp near Ardenwood.

The teen driver and three teenage passengers were all taken into custody. Because they are minors, their identities will not be released. Paramedics were called to the scene following the crash but no one was hurt, police said.

Officers say a firearm was found in the car.
