A Tesla car builder was arrested in Fremont after San Rafael police say the 18-year-old was involved with an attempted robbery and burglary.
Daishawn Lamont Shannon of Oakland was taken into custody Tuesday at noon at the Tesla car plant at 45500 Fremont Blvd, according to court records.
He was taken to Marin County Jail, as the alleged attempted robbery and burglary occurred in San Rafael. Police said a woman on Fair Drive told police on Aug. 5 that she came home from grocery shopping and saw an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway, according to the East Bay Times.
As the woman approached the front door, two men ran from the home and one tackled her, the newspaper said. Police are still working to identify that second suspect who allegedly tackled the woman, San Rafael police Sgt. Carl Huber told the newspaper.
San Rafael police said they tracked down the the car and its owner. About a week later, police arrested the suspected getaway driver, Kayla Toi Walker, 21, of San Leandro, on suspicion of robbery and burglary.
Walker has pleaded not guilty in the case and is free on bail, the newspaper said.
Investigators eventually identified another suspect as Shannon and learned he had recently started a job at Tesla. Shannon remained in custody Wednesday in lieu of $75,000 bail on the two felony charges, jail records show.
