Forecasters are predicting a hotter than usual summer for nearly the entire country.
The National Weather Service said the high temps are expected to last from June to August.
San Jose State University meteorologist Alison Bridger warns it is important to read the fine print regarding the predictions.
"If you look at California, it's a 40 to 50 percent chance that we're going to be warmer than average," Bridger said. "I personally don't call a 40 or 50 percent chance particularly exciting."
Bridger also said the National Weather Service does not predict how much hotter it might get.
"So for the Bay Area, if our average is 84, but we come in at 85 -- yes we are hotter than average," Bridger said. "But we're not blisteringly hot."
But Bridge is certain of one thing.

"Climate change is real. Our climate is warming," she said. "There's mountains of evidence for climate change."
