The three people who died in a crash in Oakland early Saturday morning were all East Bay residents, according to an Alameda County coroner's bureau investigator. Some witnesses say a sideshow was taking place in the general area prior to the crash.
Police arrived at 100th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard at about 4:30 a.m. to find a vehicle had hit several parked cars and a pedestrian before overturning, according to Oakland Police Department Officer Jeff Thomason.
Five people were inside the overturned car. Ambulances responded and paramedics determined that three of the occupants, including the driver, had died.
Rickie Reyes Jr., a 22-year-old Hayward man, was driving the car, according to Damon Wilson, an investigator at the coroner's bureau. The front passenger, who also died, was identified as Racquel Cassini, 21, of San Lorenzo. The 19-year-old San Lorenzo woman who was in the rear, middle passenger seat, Zsorhzinnia Tevaseu, was ejected and died.
The other two passengers were transferred a nearby hospital and were listed in stable condition, according to police.
The pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk at the time of the crash, Thomason said, and was taken to the hospital with multiple broken bones and listed in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest speed was a factor in the crash, Thomason said. The car was heading west on MacArthur Boulevard, approaching 100th Avenue, when it veered off the road.
