Three city-owned parcels are the frontrunners for a new state-of-the-art cop shop in Palo Alto, according to a report.
The former Los Altos treatment plant at 1237 San Antonio Rd., a PG&E switching station at 3120 West Bayshore Rd. and parking lot C-6 at 250 Sherman Ave. are under consideration, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
The new building would house the police department, the 911 emergency dispatch center, and fire department administration. The city council is slated to discuss the project and the parcels at a study session on May 6.
The City Council said it will pay for the $57 million project with transient occupancy tax-backed certificates of participation, a financing tool that does not require voter approval.
