Tip Leads to Arrest in 3 Mission District Sexual Assaults

An anonymous tip led police to the 32-year-old man suspected in three separate sexual assaults.

San Francisco police arrested a 32-year-old San Francisco man in connection with three sexual assaults in the city's Mission District.

With the help of a tip from the department's anonymous tip line, investigators from the Police Department's special victim's unit were able to identify the suspect and link him to physical evidence found at the sites of the assaults, according to police.

The man was detained at Cesar Chavez Street and Treat Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. Friday and arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery, police said.

The first assault occurred on June 17 on South Van Ness Avenue near 24th Street. The victim was dragged 60 feet away, where she was sexually assaulted and robbed.

The second attack occurred on Nov. 18 along the Mission District's 24th Street corridor. The third assault took place near 24th Street and Fair Oaks Street on Dec. 8, police said.

In each instance the female victims were violently attacked and robbed, police said.
