Toll Considered for Flood-Prone Highway 37

Drivers in the Bay Area may not want to hear it, but there's talk of adding a toll to use Highway 37 in the North Bay.

Flooding recently shut down the highway in both directions, prompting Marin County supervisors to study how to pay for roadway improvements. One option could be a toll.

The Marin County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday morning to study long-term solutions for the flood-prone highway and how to pay for those fixes.

The Marin Independent Journal reported that transportation experts said the levee that broke this winter, causing flooding along the highway, and the highway in general need repairs.

One transportation official told the newspaper that the highway and levees in the area are sinking.
