The California Highway Patrol reported a traffic fatality Sunday afternoon on southbound Interstate Highway 880 in Milpitas.
All lanes of southbound Interstate Highway 880 were closed for two hours, according to the CHP, but two of the lanes were reopened Sunday evening.
The accident occurred near the state Highway 237 connector, according to the CHP.
The incident was first reported at 6:05 p.m., when officers responded to a report of a man in the roadway.
Officers said several drivers who hit the man pulled over to tell the police what had happened.
The CHP issued a Sig-alert due to the incident.
