Brace yourselves for the upcoming heat, and make sure to keep your sunglasses and halter tops handy. Bay Area temperatures should continue to blaze until the middle of the week.
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District issued a Spare the Air alert for Tuesday because of expected unhealthy air conditions in the region.
Sunday and Monday were this week’s hottest days, and temperatures will remain high through Wednesday, according to Roger Gass, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service. Antioch in the East Bay is expected to hit triple-digits, perhaps as high as 104 degrees. The weather has been causing concern for firefighters in the Tri-Valley over the weekend, as several grass and house fires were exacerbated in the heat.
San Francisco will be a lot cooler, with temperatures in the lower 70s this week, and the East Bay will experience high humidity and temperatures ranging from the upper 70s to the low 80s.
Relief from the heat should come by Thursday, when temperatures are expected to cool down through Friday and into the weekend.
