Two 14-year-old boys were injured Saturday night when a car backed into them, Oakley police said.
The two boys were jumping off of a curb into the street on a residential block on Brooks Street, Oakley police Sgt. Rich Grubaugh said.
One boy was riding a bike, the other a scooter, Grubaugh said, at about 8 p.m. when they both jumped off the curb and into the path of a car backing up at curbside. The car was driven by a 26-year-old woman.
Both boys suffered significant cuts and bruises, Grubaugh said, and one of them may have suffered a broken leg, Grubaugh said. Both boys were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
The accident remained under investigation late Saturday. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have played any part in the accident, Grubaugh said.
