Two-Alarm Fire Damages Fremont Hoarder House, Kills Six Cats

Six cats were killed Tuesday when a two-alarm fire ripped through a hoarder house in Fremont, officials said.

Just before 3:30 a.m., the city's fire department took to Twitter to report the fire on the 38000 block of Hastings Street, near Eggers Drive.

Battalion Chief Rich Dickinson said that the fire sparked outside two houses, spread to a tree and then entered the attic of the hoarder house. The second house was not damaged, he said.

The flames, which were very difficult to access, took around 60 minutes to put out due to heavy fire conditions inside and around the home, according to Dickinson.

The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire and the location of any residents remains unknown, Dickinson said.

There were no rescues reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
