Two Hayward Officers Sustain Minor Injuries After Police Cruisers Collide

Two Hayward police officers were involved in a crash early Saturday morning.

Their vehicles sustained significant damage in the collision that occurred on westbound State Route 92 around 3 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

A CHP officer was pursuing a driver who failed to yield. The driver stopped on the right shoulder of eastbound State Route 92, west of Santa Clara Street, the CHP reprorted.

The two Hayward police officers were heading to the scene to help, according to the CHP. One officer came to a halt, but the other was unable to stop in time so he rear-ended the police cruiser in front of him.  

The officers behind the wheels suffered minor injuries. One was taken to a local hospital for treatment, the CHP reported.
