Vallejo firefighters late Thursday have the upper hand on a five-alarm grass fire on Mare Island.
Firefighters say there are no evacuation or shelter-in-place orders associated with the blaze, which charred at least 40 acres.
The fire follows a four-alarm blaze that burned at least 7 acres in the same area early Wednesday.
