A vehicle fire in the Caldecott Tunnel Wednesday afternoon triggered the closure of eastbound Highway 24, officials said.
The fire broke out in at around 4:30 p.m. but firefighters were able to put it out just before 5 p.m.

The eastbound traffic was backed up for four miles. As of Wednesday night, all lanes were reopened.
No injuries were reported in the car fire.
The cause of the fire was not known.
