Car Catches Fire Inside MacArthur Tunnel in San Francisco

A car caught fire inside the MacArthur Tunnel in San Francisco Sunday afternoon, leading to an evacuation and temporary closure of the tunnel, according to officials.

No injuries were reported, according to the fire department.

One southbound lane of the tunnel remained blocked for hours, but the tunnel was cleared by about 5:10 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. 

The MacArthur Tunnel is located just south of the Golden Gate Bridge in the Presidio of San Francisco.
