Victim Says Carjacking Suspect Attempted to Run Him Over in San Jose

San Jose police are investigating a pair of carjackings reported Wednesday.

The first incident occurred on Woodridge Way, when a victim who put his up car  for sale on Craigslist met up with a potential buyer.

The victim, who did not want to be identified, told NBC Bay Area the suspect preferred meeting at his house because "it's safer."

The suspect showed up with a woman and a child.

After going for a test drive, the victim said the robber took off with his car, leaving the woman and child behind.

The victim then said he jumped on the car the woman arrived in, breaking her window. The carjacking suspect returned and attempted to run the victim over.

"(The suspect) hit the victim with the victim's vehicle, striking him and sending him on the hood and off to the ground," San Jose Police Officer Albert Morales said. "The vehicle subsequently took off."

The woman and child took off as well. The victim decided to chase all of them through the streets of San Jose, which police said was not the right thing to do.

"Somebody tried to run me over," the victim said. "You get mad. You just want to catch them."

The suspects as of late Thursday have not been located.

Hours later after the incident on Woodridge Way, another carjacking was reported in the Eastridge Mall parking lot in front of the 24 Hour Fitness.

Police said two men with guns confronted a victim and took his car. Investigators on Thursday said they do not believe the two carjackings were related.
