A man is in critical condition after being assaulted early this morning near the San Jose State University campus, according to a San Jose police spokesman.
Police received a report at about 1:45 a.m. of a person down near the intersection of Santa Clara and Third streets, San Jose police spokesman Officer Jermaine Thomas said.
Arriving officers found a man who had suffered major injuries from an apparent assault, according to Thomas.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition, Thomas said.
No arrests have been made and no suspect information was immediately available, he said.
