Supervisors Vote to Close Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose After 2031

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to close 80-year-old Reid-Hillview Airport after 2031 and consolidate operations with San Martin Airport.

According to county officials, supervisors could have kept the airport open for another 20 years through Federal Aviation Administration grants or close the airport permanently.

FAA rules currently require the airport to stay open for another 12 years, according to the county, so officials will not immediately begin discussing the area's reuse.

Supervisors opted to consolidate the airport's services with San Martin Airport, according to county officials.

Neither location has regularly scheduled domestic or international flights.
