Wages, Salaries Up by 3.3% in the Bay Area

Workers in Bay Area businesses saw their wages and salaries increase by 3.3% over the year ending in March, officials with the U.S. Department of Labor announced Wednesday.

The 3.3% increase was better than the U.S. average of 3 percent.

Bay Area total compensation, which consists of wages and benefits, was up 3 percent over the year compared to 2.8 percent nationwide.

Since 2015, Bay Area employers have paid an average of 2.8 percent more per year to compensate workers, labor officials said.
