Crews Repair Water Main Break in San Francisco

A water main break on Tuesday disrupted water service and impacted traffic for hours in a section of San Francisco, according to water officials.

The water main break, which was reported at 6 a.m., occurred at the intersection of 2nd and Harrison streets, officials said. Repairs were completed at about 6 p.m.

Officials said water service has been restored and all traffic lanes have reopened.

Crews responded to repair a broken pipe. Officials said crews had to dig up a section of the road in order to excavate the pipe. Water officials said they suspect that age played a factor in the break. The cast iron pipe was built in the 1930s.
