A driver was uninjured Wednesday after the front of their vehicle got stuck in a flooded sinkhole in Castro Valley.
Fire officials were able to safely help the driver exit the Toyota SUV at Somerset Avenue between Santa Maria and Redwood Road, which was closed down after a water main break and the heavy rain flooded the roads, according to Alameda County Fire Department.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the sinkhole was caused by the water main break but water appeared to have been flowing from underground where the car got stuck, according to a video posted by the firefighters.
The vehicle was later removed as officials continued to fix the water main break.
East Bay Municipal Utility District officials and California Highway Patrol Castro Valley officers are on the scene, Alameda County Fire said.
"Reported broken water main...of all days..," CHP Castro Valley wrote on Facebook, seemingly referencing the heavy rain and wind the Bay Area is experiencing.

The latest system, which is tabbed as an atmospheric river, has caused flooding, downed trees and isolated power outages across the saturated region.
