Tokyo Knows Way to San Jose

New nonstop flights to Tokyo from San Jose will begin in 2012.

A nonstop way from San Jose is to Tokyo, via Boeing's brand-new Dreamliner jet.

Nonstop flights from Mineta San Jose International Airport to Narita Airport in Japan will begin in 2012, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The flights will be with All Nippon Airways.

The airport offered nonstop service to Japan in 2006, when American Airlines canceled that service. The airport currently only offers international flights to Mexico.

The flights will be on board the Boeing 787 Dreamliner jet, which All Nippon Airways will fly from Seattle as well as San Jose to destinations in Japan.

This is good for business -- as Tokyo and Japan are top destinations for Silicon Valley travelers, according to the San Jose Mercury News -- and it will also be good for the airport: Mineta San Jose had lost a third of its flights and a quarter of its customers over the past several years, according to the newspaper.
