Welcome To The 669 (South Bay Talks About Area Code Change)

The South Bay is going to become the 669 whether you like it or not, but you can weigh in on how it happens. The California Public Utilities Commission is holding meetings this week on who gets to stay in the 408 and who has to become part of the 669.

The CPUC says we have exhausted all of the numbers in the 408 and we have to start using 669. There are two ways to do it. Either split the current area code in half, or just give people applying for new numbers the 669 area code.

There will be three public meetings on the issue:

If you can't make the meeting you can email the CPUC or write to: California Public Utilities Commission, Public Advisor's Office, 320 W. 4th St., Suite 500, Los Angeles, CA 90013.

The change over will happen by the end of next year.
