What to Expect for Next Week's Outside Lands Music Festival

Thousands of avid music followers will flock to Golden Gate Park next weekend for three days of bands and festivities at this year’s Outside Lands music festival. People from across the nation are travelling to San Francisco to take part in the popular event’s ninth year.

Attendees of the festival will have paid more than $145 per day to see this year’s lineup, which includes more than 90 alternative, rock and rap artists. Popular musicians such as Radiohead, Lionel Richie and Lana Del Ray will take the stage beginning on Friday, August 5, and continue through Sunday.

Each day includes a mix of more seasoned artists combined with smaller, underground bands. Friday’s set features rapper J. Cole and Swedish indie-pop band Miike Snow, Saturday includes music producer Zedd and singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens, and Chance the Rapper and electronic band Major Lazer will be shown on the final day.

But lively performances aren’t the only thing to be looking forward to next weekend. The festival is famous for the unique and often wacky food that it serves. Concert-goers can choose between the 79 vendors that Outside Lands has partnered with this year—including Straw, which specializes in donut cheeseburgers, and Rocko’s, which serves its original ice cream tacos.

To complete the weekend experience, the festival has also scheduled sets by over 15 comedians—including ‘Saturday Night Live’ veterans Fred Armisen and John Mulaney—and will feature a golf course and a dance party hosted by MTV.

In case you can’t make it to the event, Outside Lands will be livestreaming all the action on ‘go90.’ Last year attracted over 195,000 music-loving fans, and even more are expected to show up this year.
