What You're Doing This Weekend, 5/23-5/25

Fanime goes live, E-40 tells us when to go, Roseanne doesn't sing, Styx is back, Carnaval, Conchords fly and happy bday Miles

NO POKEMON HERE: Get your inner dork ready and bust out your pens because Nor Cal's largest anime convention, Fanime, is coming to the San Jose Convention Center, 150 W. San Carlos, this weekend through Monday. For more information visit their Web site.

TELL US WHEN TO GO: Just tell him when to go. The hyphy movement goes live when the Bay Area's own E-40 plays the Burro, 6651 Brisa St., in Livermore at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

PLEASE DON'T SING: As long as you don't let her sing it should be a good night. Emmy Award winning comic Roseanne Barr brings her unique brand of comedy out of retirement (where has she been?) to  Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus Ave., in San Francisco at 10:15 p.m. on Saturday.

THE 70S ARE BACK: Don't tell Adam Sandler but Stykx is still alive and well. And, in fact, one of the 70s' best-selling rock artists will play the Shoreline Ampitheater, 1 Amphitheatre Parkway, in Mountain View on Sunday. Tickets are still available from Ticketmaster.

COLORFUL FUN: The always extravagent and colorful Carnaval Parade comes to the heart of the Mission in San Francisco on Sunday starting at 9:30 a.m. The Latin-inspired music fest and  parade starts at 24th and Mission streets in San Francisco. For more information visit their Web site.

STRAP IN: The comedy rock duo of Flight of the Conchords will light up the Berkeley Community Theater, 1930 Allston Way, in Berkeley at 6 p.m. on Monday. Bret McKenzie of The Black Seeds and Figwit fame and Jemaine Clement of The Humourbeasts make up the acoustic duo that plays off of audience interaction.

LOTS OF CANDLES: Happy birthday to one of the greatest of all time. Birth of the Cool, a Miles Davis birthday bash takes place at Yoshi's, 1330 Fukknire St., in San Francisco.
