Wildfires May Make Fat Tire Beer Smoky

A wildfire has ruined the brewer of Fat Tire beer's water.

The wildfires raging in Colorado may make a California favorite undrinkable.

The Fort Collins, Colorado-based New Belgium Brewery is fearing for the quality of its famous Fat Tire beer, according to the Associated Press.

The culprit? The same wildfires that have burned down hundreds of homes in June is making the water taste like smoke.

Smoked beers are prized in some beer connoisseur circles -- but Fat Tire is not a smoked beer. The brewer has been using a "reserve water supply" because of the wildfires, and says it can't go back to using water from the river.

If it did, "it would kill the flavor from the beer and make it undrinkable," the AP reported.

The fire, the High Park Fire, burned 136 square miles of mountains and killed one person, the AP reported.
