Winter Storm Brings Rain Back to Bay Area

The storm brought rain and a little snow to the Bay Area Sunday.

A winter storm brought wet weather and even a little snow to the Bay Area today, according to the National Weather Service.

Portions of Mount Diablo in Contra Costa County were dusted with snow this morning, and other locations above 3,500 feet could experience light snowfall with the passing storm, weather forecaster Diana Henderson said.

The rest of the Bay Area was getting some much needed precipitation in the form of rainfall, which was expected to diminish later in the day.

As of 1 p.m., downtown San Francisco had recorded about a quarter of an inch of rain, Henderson said.

Heavier rain fell in the North Bay and on coastal mountains on the Peninsula, Henderson said.

About .75 inch of rain was recorded in Bolinas, according to the weather service.

Cool and dry weather was expected to return to the Bay Area on Monday and Tuesday, with a chance of rain heading to the Bay Area later in the week.

Partly cloudy skies are likely Monday morning. Highs are expected to be in the 50s, with northerly winds of up to 10 mph.
