A female driver was taken into custody Wednesday after leading officers on a pursuit near the Stanford University campus and across a section of the Peninsula, according to police.
Officers tried to conduct a warrant stop near El Camino Real and Stanford Drive, but the woman failed to pull over, police stated.
The driver, later identified as 34-year-old Tyechia Denise Payton of Thornton, proceeded to lead police on a pursuit near the Stanford campus, continued westbound along Page Mill Road past Interstate 280 and eventually drove up into the hills on Alexis Drive, according to police.
Officers eventually managed to surround the car and take Payton into custody, according to police. She sustained minor injuries as a result of the canine apprehension but she was treated on scene by Palo Alto fire department's paramedics, police said.
No police officers or canine were injured.
Payton was later booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for felony evading, assault on a police officer and assault on a police dog (both felonies), and misdemeanor resisting arrest, according to police.
Police obscured a portion of Payton's booking photo because "she made an obscene gesture at the time the photo was taken." Officials did not immediately clarify why the photo wasn't retaken.
